The field configuration demo below provides a glimpse of what you can expect from Roadmaps. Let’s dive in.

Supported fields include Status, Labels, Date, Select, Multi-select, and more, allowing for a high degree of flexibility and detail in project management.

All New AI Settings

We’ve made a major change to how you configure the AI settings in Released.

Why the change?

We found the default tone-of-voice settings didn’t always match the user’s expectations. And writing good, custom prompts takes a lot of testing and experience.

As a result we made a couple of changes that overall improve AI generated descriptions:

  1. Example-based prompts

  2. Removal of tone-of-voice-defaults

No More Default Tone of Voice Settings

We have removed the default tone of voice settings from issue-specific prompts. If you want to customize the tone for a specific issue type, you can still do it through the custom prompt option. Using examples to guide the AI is the easiest way to produce the tone you’re looking for.

Example-Based Prompts

We replaced the black box that was the default prompt with the option to provide examples. Now, you can provide two examples of how you want your release notes written. These examples act as a template, guiding the AI to match your desired writing style and tone of voice.

Practical Tips

To make the most of these changes, here are a few tips:

  1. Be Specific with Examples: Choose examples that represent the tone of voice and style you want. The more precise, the better.

  2. Detailed Descriptions: Include as much relevant detail as possible when writing Jira issue descriptions to help the AI understand the context and produce better content.

  3. Experiment and Adjust: Don’t be afraid to tweak your examples and prompts. Experimenting with different styles can help you find what works best.

Bugfixes and Improvements

  • Version search broken Fixed an issue where searching for exact versions or using a period (.) in the search term fails to return results.

Customizable AI Input Field

Recognizing the need for flexibility in release note generation, we now allow you to tailor the source of AI-generated descriptions to fit your team’s unique requirements.

Loading

With the introduction of a customizable AI input field, you can now use a custom “Paragraph” field on your issue to provide the AI with the necessary context. This means that your team can maintain technical details in the issue description while selecting a more suitable field as the AI's content source for product updates. If the configured "AI input field" is not available on a given issue, Released smartly defaults back to the standard description.

How to configure the custom AI input field?

To customize the AI input field, navigate to Settings > AI settings, and select a field in the AI input field dropdown. See the documentation for more details.

Introducing Templates

If there was one thing that we consistently hear from our users it’s this:

Templates would be amazing.

And we couldn’t agree more. That’s why we are excited to finally unwrap the holiday gift we’ve been working on the past few weeks!

Introducing Templates for Released: Streamline your release notes for faster, more engaging updates. Craft entire product updates in seconds with just one click!

And with a pre-defined structure, you can ensure that your communication is consistent, no matter who writes it. And this is how it works:

AI Blocks

AI blocks are at the core of our templates, helping you to create structured announcements effortlessly. Each section adapts to suit your release content seamlessly, populated with an AI-generated title, summaries, descriptive paragraphs, and neatly organized lists—tailored automatically to each release's unique characteristics.

We are launching templates with 4 powerful AI blocks:

  • Title - Generates a title based on the post content.

  • Introduction - Generates an introduction based on the post content.

  • Issue sections - Generates descriptions for all issues of the specified type(s) in paragraph format.

  • Issue lists - Generates descriptions for all issues of the specified type(s) in a list format.

The default prompt for each AI block can be customized. Allowing you to create a technical “changelog” template and an inspirational “release notes” template from the same Jira issues.

Templates bring a newfound simplicity and elegance to crafting your release notes, allowing for dynamic, standardized communications with a personal touch. And it’s even faster than before!

GPT-4 Support

Our goal with Released is to make the process of crafting product updates quick and easy.

Generating release notes from your Jira tickets, leveraging GPT-3, has removed a lot of the friction. And with custom prompts we brought personalisation to another level.

However, it wasn’t perfect. For example the “humorous” option wasn’t nearly as funny as we would have liked it to be - This changes today.

Introducing GPT-4

We are thrilled to announce that we have switched to GPT-4, the latest and greatest version of the OpenAI language models. With GPT-4, you can expect even more accurate and contextually rich responses. Empowering everyone to write release notes as funny as the Slack announcements.

GPT-4 marks a significant evolution from GPT-3, delivering advancements that refine its performance and expand its applicability. Key enhancements include:

  • Enhanced context understanding for more coherent, relevant responses.

  • Superior multilingual capabilities for broader language support.

  • Improved comprehension of complex instructions for better usability.

  • Refined safety features and reduced error rates for increased reliability.

Introducing Custom Prompts

We are thrilled to announce the release of custom prompts in our latest update. Now, you have the ability to create personalized prompts for your tasks, giving you even more flexibility and control over your generated description.

With custom prompts, you can tailor the prompts to your specific needs and preferences. Whether you want to add additional information, change the tone, or ensure that internal references like Figma links are ignored. This feature allows you to make each task prompt more meaningful and relevant, ensuring that you have all the necessary details at your fingertips.

The best part, prompts are customizable per for each issue type. That means you can apply a playful tone to stories, while using a technical tone for security issues.

Caching of Announcements

We've made some great improvements to the reliability and speed of your customer-facing release notes. Now, even if our service becomes temporarily unavailable, the cached content will still be available to your customers for up to 24 hours.

But wait, there's more! This caching mechanism doesn't just enhance reliability, it also turbocharges the server response time by more than 10x! Here is what 10x looks like:

Improvements

  • Improved Canonical Adjustment We have enhanced the functionality to automatically adjust the canonical link on detail pages, simplifying installation and ensuring your page is SEO optimized.

  • Enhanced security with CSP headers We've added Content Security Policy (CSP) headers to ensure enhanced security for your app.

Bugfixes

  • We fixed a crash that occurred when the fixVersions field was missing on incoming issues.
