Text Highlighting

Introducing text highlighting and color-coded ratings on Roadmaps. Emphasize important updates and improve readability with fancy looking colors. We also added some more color to the roadmaps; read on for all the details.

Text Highlighting

With text highlighting, you can now make important details stand out.

How It Works

Easily add background colors to selected text. Whether you’re announcing new features, marking important updates, or calling out specific details, this tool provides a simple yet powerful way to draw attention to the information that matters most.

Use Cases

Feature status indicators: Clearly indicate the status of features, such as marking a feature as “Beta” to inform users that it’s still in development.
Edition-specific features: Highlight features available only in premium or other specific editions, making it clear to users which features they have access to.
Critical updates: Use highlighting to ensure users don’t overlook critical updates, such as changes in terms of service or major bug fixes.

Seamless Integration with Confluence

Once you’ve highlighted your text, you can publish to your portals or directly to Confluence, where it will retain its formatting. We are converting our colors to the recently added Confluence highlight colors, to integrate more seamlessly with other content created in Confluence.

Getting Started

To start using text highlighting, simply select the text you want to emphasize and choose a background color from the editor’s options. It’s that easy to make your content more impactful!

Support text highlighting to call out features that are in beta, only available in certain editions, or critical updates and announcements. This enhancement includes background coloring and text color changes for better contrast, along with a button in the bubble menu for setting backgrounds. Rendering is also supported in Embeds and Confluence.

We also added a new "Default" option to remove any text color or highlights.

Bugfixes and Improvements

  • Support rating colors from default JPD project on Roadmaps Ratings now display in their respective colors for the Value, Effort, and Impact fields on Roadmaps, instead of all in blue.

Windows

  1. During text entry, type Windows logo key  + .(period) The emoji keyboard will appear.

  2. Select an emoji with the mouse, or keep typing to search through the available emojis for one you like.

OSX

  1. Press Fn + E, or choose Edit > Emoji & Symbols.

  2. Click a character or symbol to add it to your text (or double-click it if the Character Viewer is expanded).

Space Avatars, Copy & Paste Images and More

Copy and paste images

Loading

Sure, you could already drag and drop image files from your computer, but when it comes to screenshots, that’s a little clunky. Now you can snap that screenshot into your clipboard and paste it directly into the editor! No more extra steps to save and upload—an intuitive Cmd+V (or Ctrl+V) action is all it takes.

Personalize Your Space with Custom Avatars

Loading

Your digital space should feel like your own, and now it can! With our latest update, you have the freedom to upload a custom avatar specifically for your space, providing a distinct and personalized touch. Break away from the limitations of using generic project avatars and showcase your unique identity within the digital workspace!

Advanced widget positioning

We’ve introduced an advanced positioning feature which allows widgets to dynamically position themselves based on the trigger element. Please note that this feature is not available in the UI and must be configured as part of the embed code parameters using attribute anchor=”trigger”.

Improvements

  • Enhanced Navigation Bar You can now see and jump to linked Jira projects right from the left-hand Space navigation sidebar. If Confluence is configured, you can also navigate to your Confluence release notes pages.

  • Confluence Page Metadata Enhancement Confluence pages now display the publishing date and version, providing clear and precise document history.

Introducing Templates

If there was one thing that we consistently hear from our users it’s this:

Templates would be amazing.

And we couldn’t agree more. That’s why we are excited to finally unwrap the holiday gift we’ve been working on the past few weeks!

Introducing Templates for Released: Streamline your release notes for faster, more engaging updates. Craft entire product updates in seconds with just one click!

And with a pre-defined structure, you can ensure that your communication is consistent, no matter who writes it. And this is how it works:

AI Blocks

AI blocks are at the core of our templates, helping you to create structured announcements effortlessly. Each section adapts to suit your release content seamlessly, populated with an AI-generated title, summaries, descriptive paragraphs, and neatly organized lists—tailored automatically to each release's unique characteristics.

We are launching templates with 4 powerful AI blocks:

  • Title - Generates a title based on the post content.

  • Introduction - Generates an introduction based on the post content.

  • Issue sections - Generates descriptions for all issues of the specified type(s) in paragraph format.

  • Issue lists - Generates descriptions for all issues of the specified type(s) in a list format.

The default prompt for each AI block can be customized. Allowing you to create a technical “changelog” template and an inspirational “release notes” template from the same Jira issues.

Templates bring a newfound simplicity and elegance to crafting your release notes, allowing for dynamic, standardized communications with a personal touch. And it’s even faster than before!

Introducing Custom Prompts

We are thrilled to announce the release of custom prompts in our latest update. Now, you have the ability to create personalized prompts for your tasks, giving you even more flexibility and control over your generated description.

With custom prompts, you can tailor the prompts to your specific needs and preferences. Whether you want to add additional information, change the tone, or ensure that internal references like Figma links are ignored. This feature allows you to make each task prompt more meaningful and relevant, ensuring that you have all the necessary details at your fingertips.

The best part, prompts are customizable per for each issue type. That means you can apply a playful tone to stories, while using a technical tone for security issues.

Add Versions to Your Posts

Version 1.0 (Example)

For teams building mobile apps or managing versioned software, we've just added a great new feature that simplifies version specification for release posts, enhancing communication and visibility within your development process.

When creating a release post using the version filter, the version field will be pre-filled for your convenience. However, you can still customize the version afterwards.

When specified, the versions now show on your announcement page and widget.

Video Support and Image Cropping

YouTube, Loom and Video URL Support

We have added support for videos in Released to provide an even more visual way to showcase new features. To start, we are supporting the videos from:

  • YouTube

  • Loom

  • Video URLs (mp4, webm, and ogg)

How to add a video

Simply copy the URL of the video you want to embed and paste it into the editor. The video will be automatically embedded. Videos are responsive and will adapt to different screen sizes and viewports.

Image cropping

Getting the cover image just right has been a bit tricky, until now. We recently standardized the ratio of the cover image across all channels, and today adding the ability to crop your image to just the right dimension. With image cropping you can:

  • Preview your cover image with an adjustable cropping frame overlaid on top.

  • Resize the cropping frame using drag points.

  • Reset the cropping and revert to the original image (before saving).

Hopefully this removes any guess work and speeds up your workflow.
